Born in 1892 and raised in Stanislaus County, the late Frank F. Latta was former director of the Kern County Museum and a noted early oral historian. Mr. Latta’s books on the Yokut Indians are still regarded as some of the finest work on the natives indigenous to the San Joaquin Valley. In addition to his many books, Latta also published a huge number of articles in San Joaquin Valley newspapers during the 1920s and 1930s. He passed away in 1981 .
